NEWS AND INFORMATION FROM ACROSS THE AREA

The Royal British Legion is the UK's leading Armed Forces charity.
We provide practical, emotional and financial support to all members of the British Armed Forces past and present, and their families.
We actively campaign to improve their lives and safeguard the Military Covenant between the nation and its Armed Forces.
We also organise the Poppy Appeal, run one of the UK's largest membership organisations and are recognised as the nation's custodian of Remembrance.
Whether it's families coping with the loss of a loved one, help at home to adapt to independent living, recovery centres for injured personnel, money and careers advice or residential care: we are here to help.
Nearly 9 million people are eligible to access our welfare services and we aim to help the most in need.
As the legacy of Afghanistan and Iraq combine with defence cuts, strains on public sector support and a peak in welfare demand from older veterans; the Service community is facing a perfect storm of health and welfare needs in the coming years. The Royal British Legion is here to support them.
Each year the nation expresses its unequivocal support for The Royal British Legion's charity work through the Poppy Appeal, emphasising the need to help all generations of the Armed Forces and their families - today and for the rest of their lives.
The Wetherby Branch of the Royal British Legion are appealing for people to come forward and offer their time to sell Poppys in the street during the 2012 appeal.
Whether you can give an hour, half a day, or a full day we would love to hear from you.
If you would like to volunteer some time for this worthy cause, or if you would like to receive further information please contact the local Poppy Appeal organiser Gary Roberts on 07810 8615621 or by email at tempo1074@yahoo.co.uk
Your time and support is greatly appreciated
